There Is No Kayak.

The Matrix was a wonderful movie that graphically demonstrated the 'Brain In A Vat' thought experiment, suggested by Descartes' Evil Demon hypothesis. 

When you say "the universe", what exactly do you mean? What exactly is thing called "you" anyway? Whose universe is it? Surely 'the universe' is YOUR perception of well, everything you perceive. So fundamentally, your Universe can be defined as that which your sense organs (your eyes, ears, your ability to touch, taste and smell) receive as inputs. 

In the electromagnetic spectrum, the visible light part is the only part that your eyes can sense and it represents about 4% of the full spectrum. Assuming the audio, olfactory, tactile and gustatory spectra are also only 4% perceptible by your feeble biological faculties, this means that at least 96% of your Universe isn't directly observable by you. 

I say 'at least 96%' because we must assume there's even more than what our sensory enhancing equipment (radio telescopes, infrared cameras, high and low frequency apparatus etc) tells us. And so you can keep searching for where 'everything' is hiding from your body. Or you can go the other way and begin to realize that it's all a huge lie. 

If you saw a someone whitewater rafting, is she moving? or is it the kayak moving? Or is the water moving the kayak? There's three possibilities right there. The kayaker, the kayak and the water don't move at all. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. It is not the kayak that moves, it is only your Consciousness.
